OyOsMusic Star off to Rhumba Fest, DRC

OyOsMusic signed up artist, Edith WeUtonga is in DRC for the 5th edition of the Rumba Parade festival from 02 to 05 October 2018. Congolese Rumba is a national cultural heritage that is celebrated through the Rumba Parade Festival.

Speaking to her manager, Farai Elton Mjanana known as Samusha told OyOsNews that Project "Rumba Parade Festival" is an event which is part of the awareness and support of the process of UNESCO's inscription of Congolese Rumba as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

For ten years, in the scientific and academic circles of both Congo, there has been an enthusiastic enthusiasm for studies on Congolese rumba, the aim being on the one hand to enhance its popular dimension and genius and, on the other hand, to codify a musical heritage, offering French translations and scores. He said.

As Professor André Yoka, Coordinator of the National Commission for the Promotion of Rumba, writes:
The history of Congolese rumba is both an odyssey and an epic. An odyssey because part of the bunkers of transatlantic slave ships from the 15th century and especially in the form of codes chanted clandestinely on the basis of the nostalgic rhythms of the abandoned land, rumba arrived in the Americas as shapeless and fragmented residues.
