Since the death of Dehwa, Macheso has been running a lone race

Macheso and the late Dehwa sharing the stage
It will be exactly seven years next month since Tongai ‘Dehwa’ Moyo passed on. Many will remember him for 'loving himself' and putting on beautiful outfits that he kept on complimenting himself on his music videos but his die-hard followers will forever cherish the rival that existed between him and Alick Macheso.

Gone are the days when arguments would arise between the two hostile fans, Dehwa left a gap where other Sungura artists are failing to cover up. His son Peter ‘Younger Ingwe’ Moyo is failing to match up the experienced Macheso. His death presented Macheso with total dominance in the Sungura music industry

Tongai Moyo succumbed to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at St Anne's Hospital on the evening of Saturday 15 October 2011 in Harare. Close to 15,000 people came to pay their last respects to the Sungura superstar at Mbizo Stadium in Kwekwe. He was buried in Zhombe his rural home.
