‘Recognition’ a mammoth task for upcoming artists

Brighton Munashe Mupaya

Upcoming gospel artist Brighton Munashe Mupaya said getting recognised by people is one of the most difficult things he is enduring in the Zimbabwean music Industry.

He said Zimbabwean music system is organised in a way that those on top remain on top and those at the bottom remain at the bottom and upcoming artists suffer the consequences.

Mupaya pleads with established artists to assist upcoming artist like him by doing collaborations, offering recording equipment and financial assistance in helping them create names of themselves.

“For me it’s easy to compose songs but it’s very hard to produce them because I don’t have the resources and no one wants to partner me because I’m not popular, so I am labelled as a poor strategy for music business,” he said.

He added that it has become so hard for upcoming artist to hold live shows because all sectors be it media or promoters prefers established to upcoming artists.
