Piracy at its peak

...as Mukanya latest song circulates before release

For long time the issue of piracy has been ignored in Zimbabwe, it has become normal to listen to new song(s) before officially released, and no serious action is being taken to stamp out the stigma by those in authority.

Thomas Mapfumo is crying foul after shockingly realising that his latest song ‘Chauya Chauya’ is already circulating in mobile phones and stereos before release.

Here in Zimbabwe an organisation like OyOsMusic is trying by all means to fight piracy and their effort cannot be ignored at this juncture. OyOsMusic is an online digital music platform which sells local music for local artists.

OyOsMusic is a platform for artists to take advantage from if they are to fight piracy and if they want to make something out of their talent.

No one will be interested to buy song(s) legally when it is flooded in the streets and knowingly that they can easily get access to the song(s) without paying much of the actual cost.

Piracy is an issue of concern and if not addressed, Zimbabwean artists have no future in this digital era where information flies like wind.
