Musicians should value their music-Albert Nyathi

Albert Nyathi
Zimbabwean poet who is particularly famous for the poem and song ‘Senzeni na’, Albert Nyathi said musicians should desist from the notion of getting into music with the mentality of making money if they want to succeed.

He said money should be their second priority if they don’t want to be disappointed in the music industry.

“If you go into music with money in mind, you will be disappointed beyond measure. Just work hard and the rest will follow. Take your time, be consistent and persevere. Never try to cut corners,” said Nyathi.

He further highlighted that each generation produces its own sounds relevant to its circumstances.

He believes that musicians of yesteryear worked harder as they needed to compose without extra help from the computer world. As a result their music lasts longer on the market as it is authentic. That is why most bands that play copyrighted stuff, normally use music of yesteryear. It has the lasting power.
