Goodchild drops new album


Seasoned Afro Pop singer and TV host Alexio Gwenzi, better known by his score of listeners as Goodchild, has released a hot new album titled “Underrated”.

Tonight, the savvy singer, who is also the OyOsMusic Brand Ambassador, will launch his 13 track offering to the media before the official launch to the general public in mid-August.

The press cocktail dubbed “Underrated Album Media Listening Session” is a red carpet event which will be attended by the who’s who of the media and entertainment industry.

Journalists from various media houses, Club DJs, Promoters as well as TV and Radio presenters from all stations will grace the Press Cocktail which will kick off at 6pm at News Café, Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale.

Coca Cola Zimababwe is the main sponsor for the event and Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s Power FM is the official broadcast partner for the event. Other corporations which have sponsored Goodchild’s media launch are The Celebrity clothes shop which will dress “The Celebrity” and Sterkinekor which has sponsored the red carpet.

OyOsMusic has been doing a lot in promoting local artists especially on their album launches, and as the store’s Brand Ambassador, Goodchild will receive t-shirts from OyOsMusic that will be given away on the day. OyOsMusic has also partnered with Empire Events to organize the Media Launch.

“Underrated” is a 13 track Afro Pop album produced mainly at Military Touch Movement Studios by Tamuka “Dj Tamuka” Makuluni.

Other producers who contributed immensely to the project are Oskid, Tman and DJ Neo from Zambia.

Some of the songs to look forward to on the album include, “Fly In Summer”, “GTM”, “Havana Kukwana”, “Underrated”, “Zvachose”, “Marry Me” and “Delillah”among others.

Probably one of the most exciting musical projects from Zimbabwe this year, this album features some of the biggest names in the music industry such as Stunner,Guspy Warrior, Decibel, Nutty O and ExQ, whois currently riding high with his new song called “Nhema” that features Killa T.

Goodchild has put a lot of effort into his new upcoming album and he hopes this project will propel him to greater heights

“I am hoping to break new ground with this album, it’s been a whole year of hard work and sleepless nights, I am certain we will gain more fans after the release of this piece of work, all we need is the support of the media, promoters and the fans themselves.” he said.

Goodchild also said he was looking for new markets beyond Zimbabwe. “We have just made music for Africa, we are looking at possibly pushing the Goodchild brand beyond our country’s borders, judging from the amount of space and attention Africa is giving us at the moment as Zimbabwean artists, this will be quite easy.”

“We feel we have the right material to push in other African countries, particularly the Southern

and Western African countries which are familiar with Afro beats.” He also said.

The album will be exclusively available for sale on the OyOsMusic store for 2 weeks before it hits the streets.
