‘Buddyz for Luv’ drama competitions in the pipeline

The ‘Buddyz for Luv’ schools project focuses on adolescent and young people with regards to their sexuality. The project is an arts initiative by Patsime Edutainment Trust as a response to the high prevalent risky behavior exhibited by young people of today.

Patsime uses an applied drama and theatre approach to create dialogue around various concerns affecting different communities and map strategies of addressing these challenges. Running under the themes ‘Tradition versus Modern times’ for high schools and ‘Aive madziva ave mazambuko’ for primary schools, this year Patsime’s annual ‘Buddyz for Luv’ competitions will coincide with the Day of the African Child. The thrust will be on creating platforms that allow the African child to have a voice and advocate for the access to sexual reproductive health and rights. The competitions will attract a traction of 1080 students from 36 schools across six provinces namely in Mashonaland East and West, Masvingo and Manicaland, Harare and Bulawayo from the 14th-16th of June 2017.

Being run amongst ‘Buddyz for Luv’ clubs at provincial level, the competitions are designed in such a way that they create platforms for young people to fully express their sexual reproductive health and rights challenges using drama.
